About

Maria T. Camejo

Portuguese and Spanish Translator

I was born in Colon, Cuba in 1975 during the waning years of Soviet Communism. I left home to study music at age 11 attending boarding school for 8 years in Havana, Cuba.

I left Cuba for Lisbon, Portugal in 1996 where I married and started a family. While residing in Portugal, I traveled to Argentina, Canada, Spain, China and Andorra. At home in Lisbon, I raised my family and mastered Portuguese. The breadth of my experiences in Portugal has allowed my Portuguese lexicon to be stronger than my native Spanish. In 2010, My daughters and I took the biggest journey of our lives and immigrated to the United States. After establishing a household and getting my children enrolled in school, I began to study English full-time. In 2014 I earned a pharmacy tech certificate from Lansing Community College and began to specialize in language interpretation in medical settings.

At Bromberg, I continued my passion for languages in my roles as interpreting coordinator, interpreter, and translator. Additionally, I helped with the launch of VRI (video remote interpreting) services for that agency. I served as a case manager assistant and youth specialist for Samaritas, helping teenagers from different countries, especially Central America to develop skills, adapt and reach independent living.

In 2016, I joined Neogen Corporation in Lansing, MI serving as an Administrative Assistant, Portuguese and Spanish proofreader, Portuguese Translator and Regulatory Affairs Specialist.

I am a resident of Florida (Brevard County).
